POSITION SUMMARY

creative, user-centered design approach of the Industrial Design team at

team is the place for you. The Design Insights group is an integrated
component of the Industrial Design team, providing actionable insights to
inspire, guide, and validate design initiatives. The Design Anthropologist
will lead various initiatives to collect, synthesize and communicate
information around culture, human behavior and mobility. The discovery and
understanding of various human experiences and values and the ability to
effectively communicate this knowledge will be the primary responsibility.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Design Anthropologist will be a finder and seeker of insights around
culture, human behavior and values. The role will encompass all aspects of
data collection, synthesis and reporting, with a key focus on translating
these observations into actionable insights that will inform a user
centered design approach. The ideal candidate is passionate about
gathering human centered insights based on direct observation and behavior
to create intuitive and satisfying design experiences. Information, data
and insights will be drawn from both primary research methods and
secondary research accumulation. The Design Anthropologist will have
ongoing interaction with the larger Design Insights team to ensure that
all information is analyzed and communicated in an actionable, relevant
and compelling manner. A keen sense of discovery and the ability to
effectively and quickly translate research and trends into meaningful
insights are both key requirements. The ability to work both independently
and collaboratively with a larger, multi discipline group is important.
The role will require travel.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

5+ years academic or professional experience in the area of Anthropology
/ Sociology/ Human Behavior
A degree in Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Marketing or equivalent
experience with a passion for design
Experience applying research and insights to product design and prototyping
Strong analytical, problem solving, decision-making and leadership skills
In-depth understanding of user-centered design principles and tools
Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, MS Office, Flash
Strong secondary research skills
Ability to synthesize and creatively present information
Strong project management skills
Exceptional communication, organization, and presentation skills
Self-motivated with a high level of responsibility and professionalism
Able to work independently as well as within a team environment
Willingness to travel
