The Department of Social Sciences at the University of Toronto Scarborough
invites applications for a full-time, tenure stream position in
International Development Studies.

The position will be at the rank of Assistant Professor and will commence
July 1, 2011.

Candidates who specialize in applied micro-economics with extensive field
experience in Latin America, Africa, South Asia or South-east Asia, and
the capacity to bridge economics and the social sciences are particularly
encouraged to apply. Candidates must demonstrate a record of excellence in
teaching and research and be able to communicate effectively as an
undergraduate and graduate teacher.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach a core undergraduate
course in the political economy of development, including international
economics and trade, and to develop senior undergraduate courses in one or
more of the following areas: small and medium enterprise, community
economic development, ecological economics, health economics. The
successful candidate will also be appointed to a related graduate
department in the University of Toronto and will teach and supervise
graduate students. She/he may have the opportunity to participate in
developing new graduate programs at Scarborough. The successful candidate
will be expected to develop an independently funded program of research.

Candidates must have a PhD in hand at the time of appointment, or be near
completion. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and
experience.
