HREA offers several courses in September-November 2013 for those
interested to advance their knowledge and skills to advocate for gender
equality and women's rights:
Gender Mainstreaming (28 August-12 November 2013) - This e-learning course
aims to provide participants with a comprehensive knowledge of gender
mainstreaming and gender analysis. It draws on best practice and case
studies from around the world.
The course also provides the opportunity to focus on a specific sectors or
policy areas (such as, education, sexual exploitation and abuse,
organisational development, or human resources) and for participants to
employ this knowledge in their own workplace through an action research
topic. This instructor-led course involves approximately 50 hours of
reading, on-line working groups, interaction with participants and
instructors, webinars, quizzes and assignments, and is offered over an
11-week period.
Gender and Human Rights (Foundation Course) (4 September-15 October 2013)
- This e-learning course provides a general introduction to the evolution
of concepts of gender equality and women's rights within the international
human rights system.
This instructor-led course involves approximately 30 hours of reading,
on-line working groups, interaction with participants and instructors,
webinars, quizzes and written assignment, and is offered over a 6-week

Gender and Humanitarian Action (25 September-5 November 2013) - Through this
e-learning course staff members of (international) development agencies
and NGOs will be introduced to the relevance of gender to humanitarian
programming. The course identifies why addressing gender matters in
humanitarian response and will make participants familiar with key
frameworks underpinning gender mainstreaming approaches. For further

Monitoring Women's Rights (25 September-5 November 2013) - This e-learning
course is an introduction to documenting and monitoring women's human
rights and gender equality. It will critically look at the gendered
dimension to women's human rights violations and the challenges in
implementing and monitoring these rights in an analytical framework. The
course will address the cycle of monitoring, including tool development;
methodologies for carrying out documentation; and the application of
results for improving the respect, protection, prevention and realisation
