be part of the symposium: "Globalization and Anthropological
Practice: Transnational Networks and the Making and Unmaking of
National Disciplinary Traditions," as part of the CASCA/AES joint
meeting, Vancouver May 13-16 2009.
As is customary at CASCA meetings, the organizing committee of
CASCA/AES 2009 is putting together a symposium within the conference
to be funded by a SSHRC grant we are applying for this fall. Our
chances of getting this grant will be greater if we can show in our
proposal that a relatively high number of people are committed to
participating. This grant will be a crucial source of funds to bring
in the keynotes speakers and plenary panelists. We therefore ask
those who might wish to attend the CASCA/AES conference in Vancouver
to respond to this call and submit either volunteered papers (title
and 150-word abstract) or panels (including abstract of panel)
broadly linked to the symposium themes: globalization,
anthropological practice, and/or the role of national and
transnational networks in the making of research questions in anthropology.
Please send submissions to
<mailto:casca.aes2009@gmail.com>casca.aes2009@gmail.com by October
15, with the subject "symposium on globalization and anthropological
practice."
Please note that, in addition, you will have to formally register in
the conference (via CASCA or AES) and submit your individual or panel
submissions via the CASCA website by January 31 2009 (or, at a higher
fee, March 15).
