The Canadian Anthropology Society (CASCA) announces complete and free Open Access to its newly digitized journal CULTURE. This bilingual publication ran from 1981 to 1997, before merging with our current Open Access flagship journal Anthropologica. It represents an incredible cross-section of Canadian and global anthropological scholarship.
The digitization of this print-only publication was a challenge. CASCA member Martha Radice worked to locate and rebuild a complete set of volumes that would be fit for professional scanning (and we thank CASCA members who helped by donating their copies). Érudit staff put together the articles and metadata for each issue, which graduate student Aidan Wallace then verified, and Martha resolved the problems that arose during that process. Now all 3,782 pages covering 33 issues of CULTURE have been catalogued by Érudit, where they are hosted along with Anthropologica for the world to access freely!

La Société canadienne d'anthropologie (CASCA) annonce le libre accès complet et gratuit à la version récemment numérisée de son bulletin CULTURE. Ce bulletin bilingue a été publié de 1981 à 1997, avant d'être fusionné à notre périodique phare Anthropologica actuellement offert en libre accès. Il s'agit d'un échantillon incroyablement représentatif des connaissances anthropologiques canadiennes et mondiales.
La numérisation de cette publication n'existant en qu'en format imprimé a représenté un défi. Une membre de la CASCA, Martha Radice, a trouvé et reconstitué une série complète de volumes qui se prêtaient à une numérisation professionnelle (et nous remercions les membres de la CASCA qui ont fait don de leurs exemplaires). Le personnel d'Érudit a assemblé les articles et les métadonnées de chaque numéro, qu'un étudiant de premier cycle, Aidan Wallace, a ensuite vérifiés. Martha a résolu les problèmes qui ont surgi pendant ce processus. La société Érudit a catalogué les 3 782 pages de 33 numéros de CULTURE, les héberge avec Anthropologica et offre ces deux publications en libre accès au monde entier!
