Protesting Precarity in Ontario - Toronto and Ottawa
The Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Association (OCUFA), along with the the APTPUO, the APUO, the Carleton University Academic Staff Association (CUASA), the Faculty Associations at Algonquin College and at La Cité, and Fight for $15 and Fairness are organising a rally at the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities Constituency Office Friday morning. We encourage all Members to join the rally and to invite their students to participate in this action.
The repeal of fair labour laws and the $15 minimum wage will hurt students, staff and faculty across the province. Our college and university communities are coming together to send a strong message to the government that we will fight to protect decent work laws.
Join us outside Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities Merrilee Fullerton's office on Friday, November 2 at 10 am.
We will be calling on Minister Fullerton to stand with students, staff and faculty and reject the repeal of decent work laws. Ontario should be addressing precarious work and promoting quality education across the post-secondary education system, not rolling back reasonable and modest improvements to labour law.
Contract faculty and support staff deserve equal pay! Student workers and food service workers deserve a $15 minimum wage! Universities and colleges should be model employers!
