Call For Volunteers: CASCA/IUAES 2017 About The Conference

Mo(u)vement is an international, bilingual conference that will be
held by the Canadian Anthropology Society and the International Union
of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences at the University of
Ottawa May 2-7, 2017. With a motivated and innovatively thinking Local
Organising Committee, and with conference attendance anticipated to be
approximately 1000 people, Mo(u)vement promises to be a momentous
occasion for anthropology in Canada and at the University of Ottawa.

Volunteering

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering is an excellent opportunity to immerse oneself in the
scene(s) of professional anthropology in accessible and engaging ways.
Volunteers obtain free access to the conference, a free t-shirt, and
free food during volunteering shifts throughout the conference. In
addition to being fun, informative, and intellectually stimulating,
volunteering for such a big conference affords one with opportunities
to network with relevant scholars and with pertinent experience for
one's curriculum vitae, notably if one intends to pursue graduate
studies.

Roles And Responsibilities

Most volunteers will work on location during the conference only,
although some may have opportunities to work on projects during the
weeks or months leading up to the conference. Although the exact roles
and responsibilities of particular volunteers will be detailed after
volunteers are registered as such with the Local Organising Committee,
volunteers should expect to effectuate tasks such as helping out at
registration and information tables, orienting people's movements
around campus, and helping to ensure that space and equipment needs
are met.

Becoming A Volunteer

Those interested in volunteering must register as volunteers with the
Local Organising Committee by sending an email that includes one's
name, academic status and institutional affiliation to the following
email address: cascaiuaes2017@gmail.com.

Mo(u)vement est une conférence internationale bilingue organisée
conjointement par la Société canadienne d'anthropologie et la
International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences. La
conférence se tiendra à l'université d'Ottawa, du 2 au 7 mai 2017.
Mo(u)vement est une conférence d'envergure en anthropologie et le
dévouement de son comité local d'organisation permettra d'accueillir
un total d'environ 1000 participants. Pour plus de détails concernant
la conférence et les thèmes qui y seront abordés, vous pouvez

Être bénévole

Pourquoi devenir bénévole ?

Le bénévolat est une excellente occasion de s'immerger et de
s'engager dans la scène anthropologique professionnelle. En plus d'un
accès gratuit à la conférence, les bénévoles recevront un
chandail et des repas gratuits. Être bénévole pour un tel
événement offre la possibilité de développer des liens avec des
anthropologues professionnels qui se spécialisent dans leur domaine
d'intérêt. Développer un tel réseau est avantageux pour tout
étudiant qui souhaite poursuivre ses études aux cycles supérieurs
et représente une opportunité hors pair pour les bénévoles
d'accroître leurs connaissances et champs d'intérêts.

Rôles et Responsabilités

Bien que la majorité des bénévoles travailleront sur place lors de
la conférence, certains auront la possibilité de travailler sur des
projets et activités connexes au courant des semaines précédentes.
Les détails concernant les rôles et responsabilités des bénévoles
seront déterminés ultérieurement par le comité local
d'organisation, mais les bénévoles peuvent s'attendre à accomplir
des tâches reliées aux tables d'inscription et d'information, à
l'orientation autour du campus ou encore aux salles et à l'équipement.

Ceux et celles qui sont intéressés à devenir bénévole doivent
contacter le comité local d'organisation en envoyant un courriel à
