Call for Submissions: The Labrecque-Lee Book Prize The Canadian Anthropology Society – la Société canadienne d'anthropologie (CASCA) is seeking submissions for the Labrecque-Lee Book Prize. Established in 2018, the Labrecque-Lee Book Prize recognizes outstanding anthropological publications in either French or English. CASCA is now accepting submissions for the inaugural awards to be announced at the 2019 annual meeting in Vancouver, BC. These awards are made in honour of two outstanding Canadian anthropologists, Marie-France Labrecque and Richard Lee. In addition to being honoured by CASCA at the annual meeting, recipients of the Larecque-Lee Book Prize will also receive a $500 award. Nominations for the Labrecque-Lee Book Prize must be submitted by someone other than the author(s) and meet the following criteria: 1.) Single or co-authored monograph works (co-edited volumes/collections are ineligible). 2.) Works published no earlier than January 1, 2018. 3.) Works grounded in any anthropological subject and/or methodology is welcome (i.e. socio-cultural, archaeological, bio-cultural, ethnohistorical, and linguistic works). 4.) Author(s) of the work must hold a CASCA membership and demonstrate a Canadian affiliation in at least one of the following ways: a.) The publication nominated is an ethnography focused in a Canadian setting. b.) The author is based at a Canadian academic and/or research institution. c.) The author holds a degree from a Canadian university. d.) The publication is connected to a grant provided by a Canadian institution. Nominations must include the following information: 1. Verification of CASCA membership. 2. The author(s)' CV curriculum vitae. 3. A letter of support from the nominator. 4. A one paragraph description of the book publisher including the year of establishment and information about the series and other anthropological titles published. Nominations must be submitted electronically to membership@anthropologica.ca no later than May 15th, 2019. Once the nomination package has been received, arrangements will be made for copies of the books to be sent by the publisher to those on the Prize Selection Committee. The publisher will have two weeks to arrange shipment. Please note: the publisher of the winning book is permitted to mention this prize in any publicity relating to its publication. An interdisciplinary panel composed of CASCA Members will select the winner. The selection panel reserves the right not to award the prize in any given year. The winner will normally be announced by CASCA in September of the same year. There will be no appeals of the decision of the panel. Appel de dossiers : Prix Labrecque-Lee La Société canadienne d'anthropologie (CASCA) est à la recherche de candidatures pour le Prix Labrecque-Lee. Créé en 2018, ce prix a comme visée de souligner une publication remarquable en anthropologie rédigée en français ou en anglais. La CASCA recueille actuellement des dépôts de candidature pour ce prix. Le premier récipiendaire sera annoncé lors du colloque annuel de 2019 qui aura lien à Vancouver, en Colombie-Britannique. Le prix a été créé en l'honneur de deux extraordinaires anthropologues canadiens : Marie-France Labrecque et Richard Lee. En plus d'être honoré par la CASCA lors du colloque annuel, le récipiendaire de ce prix recevra une récompense de 500 $. Les nominations pour le Prix Labrecque-Prize doivent être proposées par une personne autre que l'auteur ou les auteurs et respecter les critères suivants : 1.) Monographies rédigées en collaboration ou par un seul auteur (ouvrages en codirection et ouvrages collectifs non admissibles); 2.) Ouvrages publiés après le 1er janvier 2018; 3.) Ouvrages abordant tout sujet ou méthodologie anthropologique (ouvrages socioculturels, archéologiques, bioculturels, ethnohistoriques ou linguistiques); 4.) L'auteur ou les auteurs doivent être membres en règle de la CASCA et démontrer une affiliation au Canada par au moins l'un des éléments suivants : a.) La publication en nomination aborde un sujet d'ethnographie en contexte canadien. b.) L'auteur est basé dans une université canadienne ou un établissement de recherche canadien. c.) L'auteur détient un diplôme d'une université canadienne. d.) La publication est liée à une bourse octroyée par un établissement canadien. Le dossier de candidature doit comprendre ce qui suit : 1. Preuve de l'adhésion à la CASCA 2. Curriculum vitae de l'auteur ou des auteurs 3. Lettre d'appui de la personne qui propose la candidature 4. Description de la maison d'édition en un paragraphe, y compris l'année de sa fondation et de l'information sur les collections et autres ouvrages anthropologiques publiés. Prière d'envoyer électroniquement les dossiers de candidatures à membership@anthropologica.ca au plus tard le 15 mai 2019. À la réception du dossier de candidature, des arrangements seront pris afin que la maison d'édition fasse parvenir des exemplaires du livre aux membres du comité de sélection du prix. La maison d'édition aura deux semaines pour procéder à l'envoi. Remarque : La maison d'édition du livre primé aura le droit de mentionner le prix remporté dans toute publicité lié à cette publication. Un comité interdisciplinaire composé de membres de la CASCA aura la tâche de sélectionner le livre gagnant. Le comité de sélection pourra néanmoins choisir de ne pas attribuer le prix lors d'une année donnée. Le gagnant devrait normalement être annoncé par la CASCA au mois de septembre de l'année ayant cours. Il sera impossible de faire appel de la décision du comité.
