(((ASF))) is an independent non-profit organisation and global network
of anthropologists established in 2013 with its main base in Brazil.
It consists of a network of critical readers which aims to (1) develop
a forum on the Internet that would allow for the collaboration of
anthropologists in different parts of the world and/or subfields; (2)
create a system of information and communication to promote
participation opportunities for anthropologists (students, active
scholars, retired anthropologists); and (3) create a reference
database of "experts" who can be mobilized and are available to offer
anthropological expertise.
(((ASF))) connects groups seeking anthropological expertise with
specialist anthropologists able to serve as critical readers,
examiners, and reviewers of reports, documents and policies about
which they may have substantial doubt. The organization/network draws
on knowledge and experience acquired by anthropologists around the
world.
The 'without borders' appellation in (((ASF))) emphasizes our openness
to people worldwide, whether they are located in the Global South or
in the Global North, or living between both. It also indicates the
extent to which the expertise on which we draw is global and prefers
not to be limited by the borders that politicians and others create to
separate and indeed segregate portions of humanity from one another.
(((ASF))) can be contacted via email or snail mail in Portuguese,
English, Spanish, and French (with potential for other language
competency in the future).
(((ASF))) acts on a case by case basis, at no cost to the group
seeking the assistance of (((ASF))), and will provide support within a
reasonable period of time, dependent in part on the length of the
report or document in question.

Droit et langage : Peut-on exprimer l'homophobie ?
Date : Mercredi 9 avril 2014
Date : Mercredi 9 avril 2014
Heure : 18h à 20h
Lieu : Université du Québec à Montréal,
Pavillon Paul-Gérin-Lajoie (N),
Local N-7050,
1205, rue Saint-Denis, Métro Berri-UQAM

Announcement: new Transformations to Sustainability Programme and Preparatory Call for Seed Funding
The International Social Science Council (ISSC) is pleased to announce
the launch of a new global research funding programme on
transformations to sustainability.
The Transformations to Sustainability Programme aims to build
scientific understanding of transformative social change in the face
of global change and sustainability. More specifically, the programme
seeks to:
- Increase the social science contributions necessary to craft more
effective, durable and equitable solutions to the problems of global
change and sustainability
- Increase the use of such knowledge by policy makers, practitioners,
the private sector, citizens and activists
This initiative is intended as a major contribution to the work of
Future Earth, a global research platform that provides knowledge and
support to accelerate transformations to a sustainable world. Future
Earth is co-sponsored by the members of the International Science and
Technology Alliance for Global Sustainability.
Please find attached the programme description with details of the
first call for seed funding. We would be very grateful indeed if you
would share this call and programme information as widely as possible
throughout your networks, on your website and through your social
media channels.
Should you have any questions about the programme or the call please
don't hesitate to contact the team at
