Dear list,
I hoping to join or even organize a panel at 2015 CASCA that would
include my paper on gender inequality experienced by middle-class
women in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam. This paper reports on
ethnographic research conducted over more than a decade. It
investigates how gender inequality manifests in the everyday lives of
these women. Despite economic gains, middle-class women continue to
shoulder a highly disproportionate share of the work associated with
middle-class life, including: work outside the home, various newly
configured forms of domestic work, and the socio-cultural work
required to maintain middle-class identity.
If you are interested in organizing a panel or think my paper might
fit the themes of an existing panel, please email me directly
(rylan.higgins@smu.ca).
Thank you,
Rylan
