The CASCA Women=?UTF-8?Q?=E2=80=99s_Network_is_seeking_volunteers_/__Le_R=C3=A9seau_des_femmes_de_la_CASCA_est_=C3=A0?= la recherche de vol ontaires

Canadian Anthropology Society

The CASCA Women's Network is seeking volunteers to serve as judges for the Award for Student Paper in Feminist Anthropology. The deadline for papers to be received is September 6, and adjudicators will have about one month to carry out their work. The papers are limited to no more than 10 pages in length, and should:

  • ·Explicitly engage with gender, and clearly demonstrate that engagement in their treatment of the topic
  • ·Take a feminist perspective, with reference to relevant feminist literature
  • ·Are not merely descriptive and show evidence of original critical analysis.

Following the decision on a winner, the paper adjudicators usually continue to serve as reviewers for Anthropologica, once the winning paper is submitted as a full-length article manuscript, which is part of the prize.

If you are interested, willing, and able to help with this wonderful work, or have questions, please contact Heather Howard, howardh@msu.edu.

________________________________

  • • traiter explicitement d'une question de genre et démontrer clairement cette perspective dans le traitement du sujet;
  • • adopter un point de vue féministe et renvoyer vers des écrits pertinents de littérature féministe;

CASCA-AAA 2019 Call for student volunteers / Appel à bénévoles étudiants

Canadian Anthropology Society

Call for Student Volunteers for Canadian Anthropology Society/American Anthropological Association annual meeting

The Canadian Anthropology Society (CASCA) and the American Anthropological Association (AAA) will hold a joint annual conference in Vancouver from November 20-24 and are looking for student volunteers. The call is open to all undergraduate and graduate students.

This BIG academic conference is an opportunity to listen to papers covering all kinds of anthropological research, rub shoulders with famous and not-so-famous anthropologists, and attend poster and multi-media installations. There will be a "speed dating" type event where you can meet people who work in non-academic jobs and learn about how you might get that kind of work. And especially for undergraduates, there will be a graduate school fair on the Saturday.

In order to be a volunteer, you must first register for the conference. Students who complete 8 hours of volunteer work will have their full conference registration fee reimbursed. For 4 hours of volunteer work, you will get half of your conference registration reimbursed.

Find out more about volunteer roles and how to sign up here: https://casca-aaa-2019.com/2019/08/12/call-for-student-volunteers/

The deadline to apply is October 1, but roles will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, so don't delay!
